Senior Day at the Park - May 12, 2015

The Mt. Hood Park Association held its 3rd annual "Senior Day at the Park" event on Tuesday, May 12, at the Mount Hood Clubhouse. A packed hall of over 90 people attended this event. and listened to two speakers, Susan Murphy, Chairman of the Melrose Conservation Commission, who spoke on "Ponds, Streams, and Wetlands" in the Mount Hood area. Myron Dittmer, Association president, spoke on the historical development of the park and golf course using pictures from the 1930's and 1940's as well as discussing the features of the park including, hiking trials, ponds, and memorials. Mayor Dolan spoke briefly about his experience at the park while growing up in Melrose and its importance to the quality of life in the city. Ward 6 Alderman, Peter Mortimer, also attended and noted how important it is to maintain the park for future generations.
